Oasys releases technical roadmap focusing on three core challenges of blockchain games
Oasys Public Chain Releases Technical Roadmap to Promote Blockchain Game Development
Oasys is a Japanese gaming public chain focused on bringing traditional games into the Web3 space. On the occasion of its second anniversary, Oasys released its latest technical roadmap, aimed at addressing the technical challenges and user pain points currently faced in the development of blockchain games. The roadmap revolves around three core areas: application data availability, layer two interoperability, and ecosystem scalability.
Although blockchain games are still in their early stages, the financing enthusiasm in this field remains strong. According to data platform statistics, the total financing amount for blockchain games reached 280 million USD in the first quarter of 2024, and the total for the entire year of 2023 was as high as 2.98 billion USD. As one of the representatives of the blockchain gaming boom, Oasys has currently partnered with several giants in the gaming industry, and its ecosystem includes 10 verse layers and nearly 60 games.
Oasys adopts an architecture design that combines Layer1( Hub Layer) and Layer2( Verse Layer), providing comprehensive tools and services for game developers. However, there are still some technical shortcomings in actual operations, and this update roadmap is designed to address these challenges.
Technical Challenges Faced by Blockchain Games
1. Continuity of Game Assets
In traditional Web2 games, in-game assets acquired by players often disappear when the game shuts down. Blockchain technology provides a foundation to address this issue, but the popularity of modular architecture presents new challenges. To this end, Oasys proposes mirroring game assets from Layer 2 to Layer 1 to ensure the permanent protection of user assets.
2. Interoperability of Layer 2
Oasys's Layer2 is called Verse Layer, each being an independent "small universe". However, there are often difficulties in asset and data transfer between different Layer2s. Oasys plans to achieve seamless interoperability between various Layer2s by introducing cross-chain bridges, adopting universal data formats, and standardizing APIs.
3. Ecosystem Scalability
Building and maintaining a thriving ecosystem is a major challenge faced by public chains. Oasys closely collaborates with partners to provide them with the necessary tools and resources to support ecosystem development and lower technical barriers. Oasys has also launched the Verse Development Kit (VDK), enabling enterprises to quickly access pre-configured ecosystem components, accelerating project initiation and content development.
Technical Roadmap Planning
Oasys's technical roadmap is divided into two phases: short-term ( within 1 year ) and mid-term ( 2-3 years ).
Short-term plan
Mid-term plan
Oasys has made significant progress in short-term planning. In May, Oasys launched the L2 chain XPLA Verse, with several well-known games going live on the chain simultaneously. Additionally, the blockchain game "Captain Tsubasa -RIVALS-" based on "Captain Tsubasa" was officially launched on Oasys.
In terms of expanding its ecosystem, Oasys has partnered with Japan's SBI Group to enhance its influence in the Japanese crypto gaming and NFT market. In February of this year, Oasys also collaborated with South Korean internet giant Kakao's Web3 gaming division, Metabora SG, to support its entry into the Japanese market.
Through these initiatives, Oasys not only demonstrates its technological innovation capabilities in the blockchain gaming sector but also showcases its determination to collaborate with industry giants to promote the development of blockchain games. With the gradual implementation of the technology roadmap, Oasys is steadily advancing towards the goal of establishing global standards for blockchain games, creating value for players and developers while also bringing new experiences and opportunities to the gaming industry.
