Oasys Releases Technical Roadmap, Focused on Addressing Three Core Challenges in Blockchain Gaming

Recently, the gaming public chain Oasys celebrated its second anniversary and released an important technical roadmap. This roadmap focuses on addressing the technical challenges and user pain points currently faced by the development of blockchain games, proposing corresponding solutions and planning for short-term and medium-term technological development. The three core components of the Oasys technical roadmap are application data availability, layer two interoperability, and ecosystem scalability.

Technical Challenges in the Development of Blockchain Games and Oasys's Solutions

Although the underlying blockchain technology has been continuously improved in recent years, there are still some technical shortcomings in the blockchain gaming field. Oasys has proposed targeted solutions by updating its technical roadmap.

Continuity of game assets

In traditional Web2 games, the game assets acquired by players often disappear when the game is shut down. Blockchain technology provides a foundation for solving the issue of digital asset ownership. However, with the popularity of modular architecture, the issue of user asset continuity has once again become prominent.

Oasys adopts an innovative approach to mirror game assets from Layer 2 to Layer 1, ensuring the permanent protection of user assets even if Layer 2 data is lost.

Interoperability of Layer 2

Oasys's Layer2 is called Verse Layer, and the interoperability between various "mini-universes" is a major challenge. To address this, Oasys plans to introduce cross-chain bridges, adopt a universal data format, and standardize APIs to achieve seamless interoperability between different Layer2s. This will enable users to freely move data and assets between games within the Oasys ecosystem.

ecosystem scalability

Building and maintaining a unique ecosystem is an important challenge faced by public chains. Oasys works closely with ecosystem partners to provide them with the necessary tools and resources, supporting ecosystem development and reducing technical barriers.

Oasys's Hub Layer serves as a hub, providing comprehensive tool support for game developers. In addition, the Oasys Verse development kit ( Oasys VDK ) enables enterprises to quickly access high-quality Layer 2, accelerating project launches and content development.

Short-term and Medium-term Planning for the Technical Roadmap

Oasys's technical roadmap is divided into two phases: short-term (within 1 year) and medium-term (2-3 years), aimed at keeping pace with the rapid development of the Web3 market.

Short-term plan (within 1 year)

  1. Standardization of Game Asset Specifications: Collaborate with ecosystem partners to achieve the standardization of game asset specifications.
  2. Create real-world use cases: Develop use cases for applying standardized game asset specifications in real-time games.
  3. Provide Oasys Verse development kit: Offer preset ecosystem components for enterprises to accelerate the development and deployment of Layer2.

Mid-term plan (2-3 years)

  1. Solve protocol layer issues: Implement solutions to mirror Layer2 game assets to Layer1.
  2. Achieve interoperability: Develop standardized protocols to ensure interoperability between different Layer 2s.
  3. Provide developer tools: Offer developers tools that align with the Oasys vision to promote the autonomous development of the ecosystem.

Progress on Ecosystem Expansion and Collaboration

Oasys has made significant progress in short-term planning. In May, Oasys launched the L2 chain XPLA Verse, with several well-known game projects going live. In addition, the blockchain game "Captain Tsubasa -RIVALS-" based on the Japanese soccer manga "Captain Tsubasa" was also officially launched on the Oasys platform.

In terms of expanding its ecosystem, Oasys recently partnered with Japan's SBI Group to increase its influence in the Japanese crypto gaming and NFT market. In February of this year, Oasys also collaborated with Kakao's Web3 gaming division, Metabora SG, to support its entry into the Japanese market.

Oasys is gradually realizing its vision of building a global standard for blockchain games through technological innovation and strategic partnerships, creating value for players and developers while also bringing new experiences and opportunities to the gaming industry.
