[EU Officials: The EU believes that trade negotiations with the US are accelerating] Polish Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs Baranowski said on Thursday that negotiations between the EU and the US are speeding up, but the EU prefers to reach a good agreement rather than quickly concluding a trade deal. Trump imposed a series of tariffs affecting European automotive, steel, and aluminum manufacturers, but later reduced the tariffs to 10% for a 90-day period to facilitate negotiations. "We have seen some optimistic factors, as we have seen the US easing the situation," Baranowski, who chairs the EU trade officials' meeting, stated. "This is a good sign that negotiations with the EU are accelerating." EU Commission Vice President Šefčovič also told reporters before the meeting that he had a "constructive call" with US Secretary of Commerce Ross on Wednesday. Šefčovič said, "Our goal is to address the challenges at hand while also laying the groundwork for deeper cooperation." ( Jin10 )
