Tari is an open-source, decentralized Layer 1 digital asset protocol developed by a team of early contributors to the Monero protocol. Its core goal is to provide a scalable, privacy-preserving, and user-friendly underlying infrastructure for the creation, management, and trading of digital assets. It addresses the privacy and performance bottlenecks faced by general-purpose blockchains when handling large-scale digital asset transactions, with a vision to become the preferred protocol for digital assets in the Web3 era, such as in-game items, tickets, loyalty points, virtual land, and more.

The technical cornerstone of the Tari protocol lies in its innovative combination and improvement of existing mature technologies: Mimblewimble protocol, Merge-Mining, and design specifically for digital assets.

Tari inherits the core privacy features of Mimblewimble, hiding transaction amounts, sender and receiver addresses by default. This provides users with a high level of confidentiality, making the movement of their assets more secure. Through the Transaction Cut-through technology, Tari significantly reduces the amount of historical data on the blockchain, lowering the hardware requirements for node operation, thereby enhancing the network's scalability and decentralization.

Tari and Monero (XMR) adopt a merged mining mechanism. Monero miners can simultaneously provide hash power for the Tari network, which allows Tari to gain strong security guarantees in the early stages of the network launch, effectively resisting potential 51% attacks. Tari uses the ASIC-resistant RandomX mining algorithm, ensuring that regular users can also participate in mining with personal computers, promoting the decentralization and participation of the network.

The Tari protocol layer directly supports non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and custom digital assets, allowing developers to issue and manage various digital assets without the need for complex smart contracts, significantly lowering the development barrier.

MinoTari is the native token of the Tari network, used for paying transaction fees, incentivizing miners, and serving as the foundation for network security. WXTM refers to Wrapped MinoTari, which is the encapsulated version of MinoTari on other blockchains, aimed at enhancing the interoperability of MinoTari and its liquidity in a broader DeFi ecosystem through cross-chain bridging technology. The desktop application launched by Tari allows ordinary users to easily participate in mining through a "gamified mining" approach, earning XTM tokens and greatly enhancing the user experience.

WXTM(MinoTari) project is an ambitious technical attempt that combines the privacy and scalability of Mimblewimble and addresses the cold start security issues through merged mining. Its focus on vertical positioning of digital assets paves a unique path for it in the crowded blockchain market. The success of the project is not straightforward; it needs to overcome various challenges such as ecosystem development, market competition, and technological adoption.
