Web3 Foundation Announces the 16th Batch of Grant Projects
Recently, the Web3 Foundation announced the exciting news of its funding program reaching its fourth anniversary. Since the program was launched, the number of funded projects has steadily increased, reaching a historic high of 150 in 2022. Notably, the foundation achieved two significant milestones last year: receiving the 1000th funding application and supporting the 400th project.
This achievement is closely linked to the vigorous development of the Polkadot ecosystem. In 2022, the developer activity on the Polkadot network reached new heights, peaking at nearly 2,500 active developers per month, making it one of the most active developer communities after Ethereum.
To better support the growing developer community, the Web3 Foundation has launched a web-based user interface that allows applicants and the public to more easily understand the grant program and browse information about funded projects.
In the latest announcement of the 16th batch of funding list, a total of 39 projects were selected, covering various fields such as user interface, signature technology, chain and module development, tools and APIs, research, and wallets. Among them, infrastructure and development tools projects accounted for a significant proportion, reflecting the ongoing demand for underlying technical support in the Web3 ecosystem.
Some projects worth noting include:
In terms of user interface: projects such as DotPulse, Polkadot Snap, and ChainViz v1 aim to enhance user experience.
Chain and module development: Projects like TREX, LeetCoin, and Faterium bring new functionalities and application scenarios to the Polkadot ecosystem.
Tools and APIs: Projects like Cross-Consensus Messaging Software Development Kit, Sol2Ink Phase 2, and NFT infrastructure provide developers with more convenient tools.
Research Areas: Involving cutting-edge topics such as digital inheritance in Web3 and hybrid node research.
Wallet Development: Coong Wallet project selected, providing users with new asset management options.
The Web3 Foundation stated that it will continue to seek and support promising projects to further expand the Web3 ecosystem. The foundation welcomes interested developers and teams to submit applications according to the relevant guidelines.
This batch of diverse funding projects showcases the vibrant vitality of the Polkadot ecosystem and reflects the broad application prospects of Web3 technology across various fields. With the addition of more innovative projects, Polkadot is expected to play a more significant role in the future Web3 landscape.
