Former football player sentenced to 30 months in prison for participating in a $900,000 cryptocurrency Mining Ponzi Scheme.

According to a report by Decrypt on July 18, former professional football player Shane Donovan Moore was sentenced to two and a half years in federal prison for operating a false crypto mining eyewash. From January 2021 to October 2022, Moore deceived over 40 investors through Quantum Donovan LLC, defrauding them of more than $900,000. He promised investors a daily 1% mining return, but in reality used the funds for personal consumption, including purchasing luxury apartments, luxury goods, and electronic products, while paying small returns to early investors in a Ponzi scheme to maintain the eyewash.

Moore primarily targeted individuals in the football circles of Washington, Utah, Oregon, Connecticut, and New Jersey, using personal trust relationships to recruit victims, resulting in losses of over $387,000. Judge Tana Lin specifically noted in the ruling that Moore caused emotional and psychological harm to the victims.
